After this course

What you'll be able to do yourself.

Below the water table, water pushes on walls and raft day and night. This course covers hydrostatic pressure, tanking, crystalline concrete, external drainage, waterstops and the order of work on site. Basement repairs are expensive, so the right decisions have to be on the drawing.

  1. 1Calculate water pressure on walls and uplift under the raft.
  2. 2Compare membrane tanking and crystalline concrete for a given project.
  3. 3Draw a basement wall section with membrane, drainage and waterstop.
  4. 4Set construction joint positions and pick the right waterstop.
  5. 5Sequence the work from dewatering to backfill.

Good for

  • Architects and drafters starting on buildings with basements.
  • Site supervisors on below-grade work.
  • Young engineers who want to see basements from the waterproofing side.

Slide the value. The drawing follows, just like in the lessons.

Water pressure at the base of the wall is about 6 kPa. The higher the water table, the harder it pushes on the joints.

Questions that come up

About this course.

All questions

01

What can I try for free?

All of chapter 1, "Ground water never takes a day off": 6 lessons, about 38 min. No card needed. If it isn't for you, stop there.

02

What should I know before starting?

It helps to have finished Roof and Parapet Details, Wet Area Details first. It isn't locked, but the chapters assume you know that material.

03

Subscribe or buy this course?

Pro is Rp149.000 a month and opens every course, track, exam and certificate. Buying this course is Rp399.000 once and it stays yours. If you plan to take more than two courses, Pro usually comes out cheaper.

04

Do I get a certificate?

Certificates come from track exams, not single courses. This course counts toward Core Details, Junior Architect. The exam runs 60 minutes and you pass at 75 percent.

05

Can I use these drawings on a project?

No. Every drawing in the course is an illustration for learning, not for construction. Use them to understand the logic, then follow your firm's standard and your engineer's drawings.
